Brainspotting

I am a Phase-1 trained Brainspotting clinician. Brainspotting is a unique body-based approach that accesses deeper parts of the brain where trauma or other emotional blocks often “live”. Clients will work with me to determine “brainspots” and will focus their eyes for extended periods of time while processing what is coming up for them at the moment. Clients are encouraged to talk as much or as little as they wish throughout the session. The process is entirely non-invasive and hands-off.

Brainspotting may be a good fit for you if you struggle with:

  • Trauma (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)

  • Emotional Blocks

  • Creative Blocks

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Shame/Guilt

  • Relationship Concerns

  • Other concerns/struggles that have otherwise not been addressed in traditional talk therapy

Things to know before and after a Brainspotting session.

  • Drink plenty of water and be sure to be nourishing your body before and after a Brainspotting session

  • Think about your schedule ahead for the day of and day after your Brainspotting session- be sure to keep heavier meetings, conversations, etc. to a minimum and that you are engaging in meaningful self-care as part of the treatment. As with any body work (massage, acupuncture, etc.) give yourself time to reap the benefits of the process.

  • Try to minimize screen time the day of to promote rest

  • I will check-in with you on a mutually agreed time via phone 48-72 hours after your Brainspotting session- everyone reacts differently to Brainspotting and I want to make sure there are no concerns after session that need tending

  • If you are receiving Brainspotting services in an adjunct capacity, meaning I am not your regular individual or couples therapist, please plan on meeting with your therapist soon after your Brainspotting session to process (within 1-2 weeks). This maximizes the benefit of Brainspotting.
